A cannon from that war was mounted in the same location. The plaque from the first monument can now be seen in front of the Odie J. Wilkinson VFW Post 3500, located at 1717 Big Bend Blvd.

- At Bellevue and Arlington Avenues, this World War I cannon stood as a memorial to the Richmond Heights men who served during hte war. The cannon was dismantled and donated to the war effort during World War II.
