Cape Horn Overlook

Cape Horn Overlook sits at 1,171 feet along the byway between the Gibbons Creek crossing and Plymouth Industrial Road, reached via Cape Horn Trail #4418 after a 2 mile hike. The terrain drops 944 feet within 600 meters of the overlook, and the view faces east toward sunrise. Several waterfalls lie within the visible range, including Coopey Falls and Upper Coopey Falls to the southeast at just over 2 miles, and Dalton Falls, Mist Falls, and Wahkeena Falls to the east between 3.0 and 3.4 miles. Angel's Rest, a peak at 1,608 feet, is visible east-southeast at 2.4 miles, and Devils Rest, at 2,443 feet, lies east-southeast at 3.5 miles. Lemmons Viewpoint and the Wahkeena Picnic Site are also within view to the east near the 3.4 mile mark. The full trail loop can be completed between July 16 and January 31; a peregrine falcon closure affects the section of Cape Horn Trail south of Highway 14 from February 1 to July 15. Gresham is 12.8 miles to the west-southwest, with Vancouver and Portland roughly 23 miles to the west. Quiver Point is the next lookout along the byway, following Cape Horn Outlook.
