Deadman Gap Overlook

Deadman Gap Overlook sits at 1,627 feet along the Talimena Scenic Drive, facing due north, with the land dropping 586 feet within 600 meters of the viewpoint. Several peaks and one refuge are visible to the north and northeast: High Point at 5.3 miles, Blue Mountain at 6.8 miles, Waterfowl Refuge at 9.5 miles, and Buzzards Roost at 13.5 miles, all in the north-northeast direction. Red Oak Peak and Sulphur Spring Mountain appear farther out, at 16.2 and 16.3 miles to the northwest and north respectively. Poteau lies 24.4 miles to the northeast, with Mena 38.5 miles southeast and Greenwood 46.6 miles northeast. On the drive, this overlook follows Holson Valley Vista and precedes Panorama Vista. Daylight hours vary across the year, with sunrise near 6:07 and sunset near 20:37 at the June solstice, compared to sunrise near 7:24 and sunset near 17:13 at the December solstice.
