Grand View Vista

Grand View Vista sits at 2,451 feet on the Talimena Scenic Drive, facing 60 degrees toward the northeast. The land drops 782 feet within 600 meters of the overlook, giving an open view across the terrain below. Eagleton Vista, the previous lookout on the byway, is visible to the east at 0.7 mi. Several peaks appear across the middle and far distance, including Shut-In Mountain to the north-northeast at 3.8 mi, Wolf Pinnacle to the east-northeast at 9.8 mi, and Blue Mountain to the east at 13.7 mi. Additional peaks in view to the east include Irons Fork Mountain, Goldsberry Mountain, and Lamb Mountain, ranging from about 14 to 16 miles out, along with Peanut Mountain to the north-northeast at 12.0 mi. Because the overlook faces 30 degrees off square toward sunrise, morning light comes in low across this line of peaks. Mena lies 5.7 mi to the south-southeast, with Poteau and Booneville farther off to the northwest and north-northeast. The next stop along the drive is Lake Wilhelmina Vista.
