Acorn Vista

Acorn Vista sits at 2,061 feet along the Talimena Scenic Drive, with the land dropping 548 feet within 600 meters of the overlook. The view faces east, directly toward sunrise. Mena Sports Complex is visible to the southeast at 3.7 miles. Farther out, a line of peaks marks the horizon: Wolf Pinnacle (2,440 ft) and Blue Mountain (2,599 ft) to the east-northeast at 8.3 and 11.9 miles, Irons Fork Mountain (1,820 ft) and Goldsberry Mountain (1,554 ft) to the east at 11.9 and 12.3 miles, and Bear Mountain (1,464 ft) and Hawk's Overlook (1,762 ft) to the southeast at 12.9 and 14.9 miles. Mena is the closest town, 3.3 miles to the south, while Poteau lies 36.3 miles northwest and Booneville 39.7 miles north-northeast. Because the overlook faces the sunrise, morning visits catch direct light across the ridgeline; sunrise runs from about 6:05 a.m. at the June solstice to 7:22 a.m. at the March equinox, with December sunrise at 7:21 a.m. and sunset as early as 5:11 p.m. that season.
