Hayden Peak Overlook sits at 10,531 feet along the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway in Utah, facing east and looking directly toward sunrise. The terrain drops 235 feet within 600 meters of the overlook. Several peaks of the Uinta Mountains are visible: Mount Agassiz (12,428 ft) to the east-northeast at 3.9 miles, Hayden Peak (12,417 ft) to the northeast at 4.0 miles, and East Hayden Peak (12,270 ft) farther northeast at 5.3 miles. A-1 Peak (12,368 ft) lies north-northeast at 6.2 miles, with Spread Eagle Peak (12,530 ft) to the east-northeast at 6.4 miles and Rocky Sea Pass Peak (11,714 ft) to the east at 6.8 miles. Pigeon Milk Spring, at 10,815 feet, is visible to the east at 6.3 miles. East Grandaddy Mountain (11,648 ft) appears to the southeast at 9.0 miles. Hayden Peak itself is located on the western edge of the High Uintas Wilderness within the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, in the western Uinta Mountain Range of Summit County. The nearest towns are Heber City, 30.0 miles to the west-southwest, Park City, 31.7 miles west, and Snyderville, 34.0 miles west.
