High Exposure sits at 1,090 feet along the Shawangunk Mountains Scenic Byway, facing 150 degrees toward the south-southeast. The land falls away sharply here, dropping 639 feet within 600 meters of the overlook. To the south-southwest, the Shawangunk Multiple Use Area lies 0.7 miles out, with Hades Hill rising just beyond it at 1.1 miles. Farther off, the view extends across a scatter of parks and community sites in New Paltz and the surrounding area, including Hasbrouck Park, Peace Park, and the SUNY New Paltz Student Garden to the east, and Majestic Park and Thomas Felten Community Park to the south-southeast. The Shawangunk Grasslands National Wildlife Refuge appears at 7.6 miles to the south-southwest, and the Town of Lloyd is visible at 9.5 miles to the east. Daylight hours here shift from about 07:01 to 19:09 at the March equinox, 05:23 to 20:36 at the June solstice, 06:45 to 18:56 at the September equinox, and 07:21 to 16:30 at the December solstice. Pinnacle Rock precedes this stop on the byway, with Overlook following next.
