Highland Hills Overlook

Highland Hills Overlook sits at 955 feet along the Ohio River Scenic Byway, facing 330 degrees toward the northwest. The terrain drops 312 feet within 600 meters of the overlook, giving an open view down toward the river and surrounding low ground. Fort Steuben Park lies to the west at 0.5 miles, with Beatty Park Number 2 also to the west at 1.0 mile. The Flats is visible to the northwest at 1.0 mile, and North End Park sits to the north-northwest at 1.1 miles. Farther in the same direction, the Old Fort Steuben Bridge Pier Viewpoint appears at 1.5 miles and Steubenville Marina at 1.6 miles, both north-northwest of the overlook. Pittsburgh lies 32.2 miles to the east, with Bethel Park at 29.8 miles east and Cranberry at 35.7 miles northeast. On the byway route, this overlook follows the Old Fort Steuben Bridge Pier Viewpoint and precedes Kiedaisch Point. Daylight hours vary through the year, from sunrise at 05:53 and sunset at 20:57 near the June solstice to sunrise at 07:43 and sunset at 17:00 near the December solstice, with equinox daylight falling between those extremes.
