Lone Bald Overlook

Lone Bald Overlook sits at 5,635 feet on the Blue Ridge Parkway, facing due north across terrain that drops 801 feet within 600 meters of the pull-off. The view takes in a cluster of nearby balds and peaks: Steestachee Bald to the northwest at 3.5 miles (5,667 ft), Lickstone Bald to the north-northeast at 3.9 miles (5,684 ft), Grassy Bald to the northwest at 4.1 miles (5,594 ft), and Wesner Bald, also northwest, at 4.3 miles (5,588 ft). Two other parkway viewpoints are visible as well—View Steestachee Bald (MP 438.9) to the north-northwest at 3.8 miles and Cove Field Ridge Overlook, also north-northwest, at 4.1 miles. Asheville lies 29.7 miles to the east-northeast, with Sevierville 46.3 miles northwest and Greenville 49.9 miles southeast. On the Parkway, this overlook falls between Roy Taylor Forest Overlook and Richland Balsam Overlook. Daylight varies by season, with sunrise around 06:18 and sunset near 20:51 at the June solstice, compared to a sunrise near 07:38 and sunset near 17:24 at the December solstice.
