Overlook

This overlook sits at 1,083 feet along the Mohawk Trail in Massachusetts, facing south with the land dropping 608 feet within 600 meters of the viewpoint. The southerly orientation opens a wide sightline across a series of peaks and features. Rattlesnake Mountain rises to the southwest at 1.6 miles, with Poplar Mountain further along the same direction at 2.8 miles and 1,009 feet. Whales Head stands south at 3.2 miles, reaching 1,107 feet, while Jerusalem Hill and Mormon Hollow lie to the south-southwest between 3.5 and 3.6 miles out. Locke Hill is visible south-southwest at 2.6 miles. Closer in, a waterfall viewpoint sits southwest at 1.2 miles and 798 feet, and Riverfront Park lies southeast at 1.5 miles and 467 feet. The nearest towns are well to the south-southwest and southeast: Chicopee at 33.5 miles, Springfield at 36.4 miles, and Worcester at 39.9 miles. Daylight hours vary by season, with sunrise near 5:13 a.m. and sunset near 8:32 p.m. around the June solstice, narrowing to a 7:17 a.m. sunrise and 4:20 p.m. sunset in December. This lookout follows Kiwanis Point and precedes the Waterfall overlook on the route.
