Panorama Point Vista House

Panorama Point Vista House sits at 704 feet along the byway between the Gibbons Creek crossing near Washougal and the Plymouth Industrial Road junction, facing 270 degrees with the terrain dropping 395 feet within 600 meters of the overlook. The view to the west-northwest and northwest takes in a cluster of parks and public grounds in Hood River, including Culbertson Park, Eliot Park, Memory Garden, Indian Creek Park, Scott Johnson Community Garden, Waucoma Park, Jackson Park, Friendship Park, and Hazelview Park, all within about two miles and ranging in elevation from 457 to 561 feet. Hood River itself lies 1.6 miles to the north-northwest. Because the overlook faces directly toward the western horizon, it aligns with sunset; on the June solstice the sun sets at 21:00, while on the December solstice it sets at 16:25, with equinox sunsets falling near 19:05–19:19. The Dalles is 16.4 miles to the east-southeast, and Sandy is 42.0 miles to the west-southwest. This stop follows Memaloose Overlook and precedes Mitchell Point Overlook on the byway sequence.
