This overlook sits at 823 feet along the Ohio River Scenic Byway, facing east at 90 degrees, with the land dropping 220 feet within 600 meters of the point. Several features lie within a mile, mostly to the east and southeast at elevations between roughly 607 and 670 feet: the Rufus Putnam House and Washington Neighborhood Park to the northeast, Muskingum Park and Ohio Riverfront Park to the east, and a cluster including Fort Street Pollinator Habitat, Harvest of Hope, and the Fort Harmar Monument to the southeast. Cisler Terrace Park lies east-northeast at 0.9 mile, with Fenton Park and the Williamstown Ohio River Access Site slightly farther southeast near the mile mark. Because the overlook faces the sunrise direction, morning light comes in fairly square to the view, with sunrise times ranging from about 06:00 at the June solstice to 07:43 at the December solstice. Parkersburg is 11.6 miles to the south-southwest, Athens is 34.5 miles west, and Zanesville is 46.1 miles northwest. The previous lookout along the byway is Kiedaisch Point.
