This overlook sits at 2,413 feet along the Central Adirondack Trail, facing south, with the land dropping 567 feet within 600 meters of the viewpoint. Several peaks are visible to the south and southwest, including Slide Mountain at 2,847 feet (3.4 miles), Peaked Mountain at 2,879 feet (3.6 miles), Big Thirteenth Lake Mountain at 2,746 feet (3.8 miles), and Hour Pond Mountain at 2,840 feet (4.8 miles). South Mountain, at 2,424 feet, is visible to the southeast at 5.9 miles, and the Gore Mt. Mineral Shop can be seen to the south-southeast at 6.8 miles. The nearest towns are well to the southeast: Queensbury at 36.6 miles, Glens Falls at 40.0 miles, and Hudson Falls at 42.3 miles. On the June solstice, sunrise occurs at 05:15 and sunset at 20:43, giving the longest daylight window of the year at this location; the December solstice brings sunrise at 07:28 and sunset at 16:23.
