The Westchester Lagoon Nature viewing platform sits along the Alaska Railroad byway at an elevation of 47 feet, with the land dropping 13 feet over the next 600 meters. Amen Acres lies east-northeast at 0.3 miles and 90 feet in elevation, while Coffey Park is visible to the east at 0.5 miles and 130 feet. Anchorage is 1.0 mile to the northeast, with Wasilla 30.3 miles north-northeast and Palmer 38.1 miles northeast. Day length varies through the year: sunrise and sunset run from 08:01 to 20:14 at the March equinox, 04:21 to 23:43 at the June solstice, 07:45 to 20:02 at the September equinox, and 10:15 to 15:42 at the December solstice. This platform follows Beluga Point Viewpoint and precedes Ship Creek Overlook along the route.
