A short cement sidewalk connects the overlook to a picnic area with five sites, a parking lot, and an accessible bathroom. Rapid City lies 18.0 miles to the northeast, with Box Elder 26.4 miles northeast and Sturgis 36.3 miles north. Daylight hours vary by season, from a sunrise of 05:12 and sunset of 20:41 at the June solstice to a sunrise of 07:26 and sunset of 16:20 at the December solstice. The Historic Viewing Terrace precedes this stop on the byway, with Flashers View next along the route.

Visited Mount Rushmore on the way to Texas. As silly as it sounds it was smaller than I expected. Perhaps I have a different of what a mountain vs a hill is. Still impressive of course.

OverviewHear the winds through the pines while getting excellent views of neighboring granite spires and mountains from a scenic overlook point access by a short cement sidewalk (this short walk is highly recommended as to not miss the scenic view!) from the nearby 5 site picnic area, parking lot and accessible bathroom. Breezy Point is located along Highway 244, just west of Mount Rushmore National Memorial. Visitors can view Black Elk Wilderness, Mount Rushmore, and Black Elk Peak from this spot.
