Gobbler Point

Gobbler Point sits at 1,284 feet along the Loess Hills Scenic Byway, facing 240 degrees with the land dropping 212 feet within 600 meters. Edgewater Park lies south-southwest at 2.0 miles (1,099 ft), with Prairie Blvd Park farther along the same direction at 3.1 miles (1,095 ft). River Overlook is visible west-southwest at 3.7 miles (1,095 ft), and Lookout Hill, at 1,342 feet, is visible to the west-northwest at a distance of 12.9 miles. The facing direction is roughly 30 degrees off square with the sunset, so evening light comes in at an angle rather than straight ahead. Sunset times shift through the year, from 19:38 at the March equinox and 21:08 at the June solstice to 19:25 at the September equinox and 16:56 at the December solstice. Sioux City is 4.5 miles to the southeast, South Sioux City is 5.4 miles south-southeast, and Le Mars is 23.3 miles northeast. Kestrel Point is the previous lookout along the byway, and Mount Lucia follows.
