Graybeard Mountain View

Graybeard Mountain View sits at 5,592 feet along the Blue Ridge Parkway, with the land falling 1,059 feet within 600 meters of the overlook. The view faces 120 degrees, toward the east-southeast, taking in a line of peaks across that arc. Little Craggy Knob rises to the south-southeast at 1.4 miles and 4,898 feet, while farther out, Graybeard Mountain and the adjacent Greybeard Peak viewpoint sit at 4.3 miles and 5,398 feet. Clingmans Peak, at 6,527 feet, stands 4.7 miles to the east-northeast, and Patton Knob reaches 6,024 feet at 3.7 miles in the same general direction. Closer peaks include Little Slaty, Big Slaty, Forked Ridge Knob, Brushy Knob, and Slaty Cliffs, all within about 4.7 miles to the southeast. Because the overlook faces toward sunrise, morning light comes in low across this ridge line; sunrise falls between 06:15 in June and 07:36 in December. Asheville lies 13.2 miles to the southwest, with Hendersonville 27.6 miles south-southwest and Greeneville 40.7 miles northwest. The Craggy Dome Overlook precedes this stop on the Parkway, and Glassmine Falls Overlook follows.
