Clinton is the nearest town, 21.2 miles south, with Freeport 30.1 miles east-northeast and Dubuque 34.4 miles northwest. Sunrise and sunset times shift through the year, from a 05:25 sunrise at the June solstice to a 07:27 sunrise at the December solstice, with sunset ranging from 20:41 in June to 16:32 in December. Horseshoe Bluff is the previous lookout along the route, and Ozzie's Point is the next one heading onward.
