Horseshoe Bluff

Horseshoe Bluff sits at 771 feet along the Great River Road, with the land dropping 60 feet within 600 meters of the overlook. From here, Maus Park is visible to the northwest at 1.7 miles (609 ft), Grandview Greenspace to the west-northwest at 1.8 miles (837 ft), Gramercy Park to the north at 2.2 miles (757 ft), and Dunleith Aquatic Center to the north-northeast at 2.3 miles (820 ft). Dubuque lies 2.9 miles to the north-northwest, with Platteville 20.4 miles north-northeast and Maquoketa 27.3 miles south. Daylight hours shift across the seasons here, from a sunrise of 05:26 and sunset of 20:44 at the June solstice to a sunrise of 07:30 and sunset of 16:33 at the December solstice, with the equinoxes falling near 07:00 for sunrise and 19:00 for sunset. The overlook is positioned along the byway between Mississippi River Overlook and Spring Lake Overlook.
