Jeff Busby Overlook

Jeff Busby Overlook sits at Milepost 193.1 on the Natchez Trace Parkway, on the summit of a large hill at an elevation of 389 feet. The land drops 12 feet within 600 meters of the site. Jeff Busby Park lies one mile to the south at 544 feet elevation. An exhibit at the overlook covers the natural and human history of the area, and a trailhead for the Little Mountain Trail is located toward the northern edge of the parking lot. That trail runs a half mile through a shady hollow, forms a loop typically completed in about 30 minutes, and connects via a half-mile side trail to the campground. The overlook is named for Thomas Jefferson Busby, a U.S. Congressman from Mississippi who introduced a 1934 bill authorizing a survey of the Old Natchez Trace, a road designated a unit of the National Park System four years later. Starkville is 25.8 miles east, West Point is 37.2 miles east-northeast, and Grenada is 39.6 miles northwest. The previous stop along the route is Black Belt Overlook, and the next is Reservoir Overlook & Chisha Foka Trail.
