Post Pond Overlook

Post Hill Overlook sits at 796 feet along the Connecticut River Byway, facing 60 degrees with the land dropping 260 feet within 600 meters of the pullout. Post Hill rises to the north at 993 feet, 0.6 miles away. To the northeast, Chase Town Beach and the Robert G. Chaffee Wildlife Sanctuary sit at 428 feet, about 1.1 to 1.2 miles out, with the Chase Beach Recreation Area at similar distance and elevation. Farther east, Acorn Hill reaches 1,366 feet at 1.7 miles, and Moody Mountain, at 1,969 feet, is visible east-northeast at 4.3 miles. The Stonehouse Mountain Conservation Area lies to the northeast at 4.7 miles and 1,422 feet. The overlook faces toward sunrise, 30 degrees off square, so early morning light comes in low from that direction. Sunrise times shift from 07:20 at the December solstice to 05:07 at the June solstice. Lebanon is 12.9 miles to the south-southwest, with Claremont further at 32.1 miles and Laconia at 40.1 miles to the east-southeast.
