Ruby Beach Overlook sits at 36 feet elevation along the byway between the junction of SR 109 near Queets and the junction of SR 5 near Olympia. The land drops 43 feet within 600 meters of the overlook. Hoh Head, at 304 feet elevation, is visible to the northwest at a distance of 4.9 miles. Forks lies 16.6 miles north, with Taholah 25.7 miles south-southeast and Pacific Beach 36.0 miles south-southeast. Sunrise and sunset vary by season: on the March equinox the sun rises at 7:21 am and sets at 7:30 pm; on the June solstice it rises at 5:20 am and sets at 9:20 pm; on the September equinox it rises at 7:05 am and sets at 7:17 pm; and on the December solstice it rises at 8:04 am and sets at 4:29 pm. Beach 6 Overlook precedes this stop, and Kloshe Nanitch follows it. This overlook is a point along the descent toward Ruby Beach.
