To the west-northwest, Crimora Park, Apple Cannon, and Endless View Farms are visible between 3.9 and 5.0 miles, each near 1,250 feet in elevation, while Rough Hill lies west at 7.0 miles and 1,426 feet. According to NPS description, the overlook looks directly toward the quartzite-covered peak of Turk Mountain, with the Shenandoah Valley to the right and the Blue Ridge Mountains to the left. Turk Mountain takes its name from a family who lived in the area before Shenandoah National Park was established. Staunton is 15.6 miles west, Charlottesville 18.3 miles east-southeast, and Harrisonburg 22.2 miles north-northwest. Crimora Lake Overlook precedes this stop, and Sawmill Run Overlook follows.
