Where Eagles Dare Summit

Where Eagles Dare Summit sits at 4,925 feet along mile 14 of 15 on the Potash-Lower Colorado River Scenic Byway, with the terrain dropping 271 feet within 600 meters of the overlook. The view faces 240°, angled 30° off square toward the sunset. Several named features lie within a few miles: Corona Arch Overlook to the southwest at 0.3 mi, Corona Arch itself southwest at 0.7 mi (4,641 ft), and Bowtie Arch west-southwest at the same distance (4,683 ft). Farther out, Pothole Arch and Day Canyon Point sit southwest and west-southwest at roughly 3 miles, and Trigon Arch appears west-southwest at 4.2 miles, at 5,041 feet. Moab lies 3.6 miles to the east-southeast, Castle Valley 11.5 miles east-northeast, and Green River 41 miles northwest. Because the overlook faces toward the sunset, evening light will come in low and direct; sunset times range from about 17:01 in December to 20:47 in June, with sunrise between 05:55 and 07:33 depending on season.
