White Whale and Remnants Tower, both peaks, rise to the north-northeast at 5,133 feet and 5,012 feet, roughly 0.4 and 0.5 miles away. Farther out, Windsor Park and Little Salt Wash Park lie to the north at 3.7 and 4.3 miles, with Canyon View Park to the east at 6.4 miles. The facing direction looks toward sunrise, angled 30° off square; sunrise times range from 05:50 at the June solstice to 07:31 at the December solstice. Fruita is 3.7 miles north, Grand Junction is 9.1 miles east-southeast, and Clifton is 14.9 miles east. A marked trailhead near the Saddlehorn Campground one-way road, just before Book Cliffs View, leads to this overlook via a level 0.25-mile loop through pinyon-juniper woodland, rated easy and taking about a quarter hour. The trail can be combined with the Canyon Rim Trail for a longer hike and is open to hiking only, with horses prohibited. It offers views of Monument and Wedding Canyons and their rock formations, including Independence Monument. Otto's Trail precedes this stop, and Book Cliffs View follows.
