The Longmire Museum has no physical address. It is in Longmire, on the south side of the mountain, about 9 miles east of the town of Ashford on State Route 706.

The Longmire Museum is a small wood building with an angled roof surrounded by tall evergreen trees. A paved walking path, bordered by large stones, leads to the entrance. In front of the building to the left of the path as you approach the door is a large cross section of a log, framed by a wood shelter. Small plaques attached to the log cutting label the historic dates of various tree rings in the log. The entrance of the museum is a small covered porch with a framed, glass-covered exhibit window to the right of the door. A trash can may be on the edge of the porch to the right of the exhibit window. When you enter the museum, there is a small entry way, lined with bookshelves with materials for sale. Enter, then continue forward to enter the main space of the museum. The information desk is immediately to the left. To the right, the single main room of the museum is broken up by old museum exhibits, including a large glass case with a taxidermy mountain lion. Interpretive panels cover the walls.

Visitors outside of a small wood building look at signs and a cross section of a large log.
