Spectra Point Viewpoint

Spectra Point Viewpoint sits at 10,219 feet on the Cedar Breaks Scenic Byway, at mile 3 of 8, facing north. The land drops 865 feet within 600 meters of the overlook. A short spur trail from the South Rim Trail connects to this viewpoint, and the intersection of the two trails holds a grove of bristlecone pines. From Spectra Point, the Cedar Breaks Amphitheater below contains arches, windows, and hoodoos. Nearby named points include Point Supreme to the east-northeast at 0.4 miles, Chessmen Ridge Overlook to the north-northeast at 1.5 miles, Cedar Breaks peak to the north at the same distance, Meadow Hill to the north-northwest at 1.7 miles, The Highleap to the north at 2.5 miles, North View Overlook to the north at 3.2 miles, and Brian Head to the north at 4.9 miles, reaching 11,300 feet. Many areas along the trail and at the overlook feature steep drop-offs just off the path, so visitors are advised to use extreme caution and stay behind the provided railing. Dogs are not permitted on the South Rim Trail. Cedar City lies 12.7 miles west-northwest. The next lookout along the byway is Sunset View Overlook.
